Homework Matters: Great Homework = Great Learning
At The River Wye Federation, a strong culture of high quality homework or ‘Brain Building’ has developed during recent years. Family involvement and engagement in this aspect of the learning process continues to be crucial to each child’s development.
All our children would say that their homework makes a massive difference to their learning. They understand this is an opportunity to try out different ideas; it is not about drudgery. It is about providing them with a rich variety of challenge both in and in between lessons. In fact, some children would not see these activities as ‘homework’ but simply an extension or integral part of their learning in class. Your child really does understand that great homework feeds into lessons and as a result provides exciting opportunities. It helps them prepare for the next step in their learning journey.
Children passionately enjoy sharing their homework. In these workshops every child has the opportunity to present, share and comment upon the rich variety of work.
We truly believe that our ‘Brain Building’ is a crucial way in which we can involve and engage parents in the learning process.
